Vilayat (pronounced with a rolled L and a long second A) is Tamil for game or play. Pretty straightforward. We understand if that lack of creativity doesn’t inspire much confidence but here’s the thing: If you are a Hindi/Urdu speaker, you might read that as the word for foreign which still works for us since all the co-founders were raised outside of India and straddle a fine line between Indianness and foreignness and we wanted that to come out too.

Entirely? No. No one is entirely all of those things. We are a startup, we are learning, and the world is changing faster than we can keep up. However, we strive to be these things and laying it out here for the world to see keeps us honest and committed to these causes. We really, really value your feedback on these elements so please do feel free to write-in to us with anything that you think we can work on.

We generally target age groups 12+ and intend our games to be played by teenagers and adults. Bear in mind, this is a generalization and there might be exceptions.
